ISO Workshop is a simple yet powerful app that allows you to create, extract, burn and convert disk image files in ISO and other formats. The program can be used to easily create both standard and bootable ISO image files directly form your filesystem. It also includes disc-burning capabilities, so that you don't need to use any third-party tools to burn your disc image files into blank discs.
The program offers an extremely simple and easy-to-use interface, where you just need to select the operation you want to execute. "Make ISO", the first available option, is the one that allows you to create disc image files from your filesystem, but unfortunately the only supported format for this task is ISO. When creating a standard ISO file, you can select the disc filesystem (among UDF, ISO 9660, ISO 9660 + Joliet, UDF + ISO 9660 and UDF + ISO 9660 + Joliet), the UDF version and/or the ISO level. If, on the other hand, you are creating a bootable ISO file, you need to specify the path to the boot image, the number of sectors, the segment and the emulation type. Note that this program comes with a generic DOS boot image that is the default option for this task.
Another option of the program is "Extract Files" and it allows you to browse an image file and extract their individual files and folders, or simply check their properties. ISO Workshop supports a wide variety of disc image formats for this task, namely ISO, BIN, NRG, CDI, MDF, IMG, GI, PDI, DMG, B5I and B6I. Next is "Backup Disc" option and it automatically generates a disc image file in ISO or CUE/BIN formats from any burned disc you insert in your drive. The program shows you basic information about your disc, and allows you to provide the location, name and type for your resulting image file. "Convert Image" option simply allows you to convert disc image files between any of the formats mentioned above and, finally, "Burn Image" tool helps you burn an image file into a blank disc, being you able to select the burning drive and speed.
All in all, ISO Workshop offers you a comprehensive set of tools to work with disc image files, in all the ways it might be required. Due to the variety of configurable options its tools offer, this program happens to be suitable both for beginners and advanced users. Moreover, it can be indefinitely used for free, unless you plan to use it with commercial and/or corporate purposes.
